Blogger Beth Janicek of San Antonio Personal Injury Blog reports that a Texas jury has rendered a verdict against against drug manufacturer Centocor, Inc. for failing to warn doctors and consumers about the side effects of the drug Remicade. The jury awarded nearly $20 million to a woman who alleged that she developed lupus from using Remicade. Believed to be the first Remicade verdict, the award included $16 million in punitive damages. Remicade is an anti-inflammatory drug prescribed for patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.
